IPL 2020 Match 2: Unlucky Punjab lost match in Super Over

 IPL 2020 Match 2 DC VS KXIP: So IPL fans have witnessed the first super over match of IPL 2020 in just the second game of the tournament. What a game this was! In the end, Punjab lost the match and Delhi registered the first win.

In the second game, Punjab won the toss and decided to bowl first. Punjab proved its decision right by sending the top 3 batsmen of Delhi to the pavilion in just 13 runs. 


Prithvi Shaw ( 5 runs), Shikhar Dhavan ( 0 runs), and Shimron Hetmyer (7 runs) got out very early of the inning. Captain Shreyas Aiyer and Rishabh Pant added 73 runs for the 4th wicket and tried to control the damage.


Shreyas made 39 runs in 32 balls including 3 sixes in the game while Pant made 31 runs in 29 balls. But the biggest participant for Delhi Capitals was Marcus Stoinis. 


Stoinis added firing 53 runs in just 21 balls and brought Delhi back in the game. Stoinis added 48 runs just from boundaries hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes. 


Delhi put 157 runs on the board and lost 8 wickets. Mohammad Shami was the top wicket-taker for Punjab as he took 3 wickets by giving just 15 runs in 4 overs.   


While Chasing, the Punjab team started well and it was looking that it will be an easy win for Punjab. Captain KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal put 30 runs for the first wicket in just 4.3 overs.


But as soon as Rahul got out (21 runs), Punjab started losing the grip. The middle-order collapse put Punjab out of the match. Karun Nair, Glenn Maxwell, Nicholas Pooran, and Sarfaraz Khan failed to give support to Mayank Agarwal to the other end.


Mayank Agarwal was playing superb on the other end. Mayank made 89 runs in 60 balls with the help of 7 fours and 4 sixes. Mayank fetched 52 runs via boundaries. But unfortunately could not finish the game in favor of the team.


Punjab made 157 runs in 20 overs and the match got tied and reached to the super over. Delhi managed to win the super over and Punjab lost it. Delhi got its victory telly open. Stoinis was elected as Man of the Match.
