In the opening match of IPL 2020, Dhoni got lucky enough to win the toss. Dhoni won the toss and choose to field first.
De Kock - Rohit gave firing start
After losing the toss, MI captain Rohit Sharma and De Kock gave a superb start to the team. Both added quick 46 runs for the first wicket in just 4.4 overs. Rohit got out making 12 runs in 10 balls and MI lost its first wicket.
De Kock made 33 runs in just 20 balls with the help of 5 fours and got out on the score of 48 runs. MI lost it's both the openers on the score of 48.
Saurabh Tiwary jumped on the opportunity - CSK restricted MI to 162
Saurabh Tiwary got the opportunity in the middle order and he used it in the correct way. Tiwary hit the first six of the tournament and with the help of 3 more fours, he made 42 runs in 31 balls.
Pollard also made 18 runs in 14 balls with the help of 1 four and 1 six. CSK bowlers restrict MI to 162 by taking wickets at regular intervals.
Lungi Ngidi took 3 wickets while Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja took 2-2 wickets.
CSK - Not a dream start in run chase
CSK bowlers restricted MI to 162 and now it was the turn of CSK batsmen to show the magic from the bat. But unfortunately, CSK did not get the start they wanted.
Shane Watson bowled on just 4 runs by Trent Boult and Murali Vijay got out on just 1 run. CSK lost its both the openers in just the first two overs of the CSK inning and at the score of 6.
Rayudu - Du Plessis at Rescue
After the disastrous start, Ambati Rayudu and Faf Du Plessis came to rescue the team. Rayudu showed his tremendous batting skills and added 115 runs for the third wicket with Du Plessis.
Rayudu made 71 runs in just 48 balls. Rayudu hit 6 fours and 3 sixes showing his great batting skills. Faf Du Plessis also made 58 runs in 44 balls with the help of 6 fours.
Sam Curran also added quick 18 runs in just 6 balls to ensure the victory of Chennai Super Kings. Chennai won by 5 wickets in 19.2 overs.
Rayudu - Man of The Match
Ambati Rayudu was chosen as man of the match for his superb batting performance.
